Suffolk County Top Cop- Commissioner Geraldine Hart stated in a news conference on September 10, 2019 that students who made threats will be charged as crimes. Due to the high rise in school shootings across America and the loss of lives in last year’s shooting at Parkland, Florida; 17 lives were murdered.
The police in Suffolk County are no longer treating threats as pranks.
Suffolk County’s Commissioner said that minors could be charged with making a terrorist threat a Felony.
